Houlding founded Liverpool to play at Anfield after the dispute with Everton committee. The club was originally named as Everton F.C., and was later on officially recognized as Liverpool F.C., in March 1892.

Liverpool F.C. played there first ever match on first September 1892 against Rother ham town F.C. It was a friendly pre-season match and Liverpool F.C. won it with this score of 7-1.

In the year 1893-94, the team won their first Lancashire League and joined Football League Second Division. In 1896, Tom Watson was appointed as the manager after the team was promoted to the First Division.

Team of Macs

Liverpool F.C. was firstly recognized as ‘Team of Macs’ due to the reason that the team was entirely composed of Scottish players who were recruited by the then manager, John Mckeena. He recruited these team members after a scouting trip to Scotland.

These were the players that played against Rother ham town and the early season matches of the club.

Old colours and their transformation

The club first used to wear blue and white shirts with white shorts. In 1901, under the management of Shankly, the colours were changed to red shirts and white shorts. Later on, Shankly thought that the colour scheme would result in a psychological impact and changed the whole kit to all red.

“Red for danger, Red for power”, was the motto of Shankly behind the change of the kit. Hence in 1964, the colours were changed to all red which are used till this date by the Liverpool F.C.

Atletico Madrid

Founded in 1903, Atletico Madrid was earlier known as the ‘Athletic Club Succursal de Madrid’. It was founded by 3 Basque students as a smaller club of Athletic Bilbao on April 26th. The dissident members of ‘Real Madrid’ joined the club in the early 1904. The club is playing under the management of Diego Simeone.

Early Years of the club

Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao both had the same colours, blue and white half shirts. In 1911, the colours were changed to red and white stripes. Atletico Madrid wore their red and white stripes along with the old blue shorts, but Athletic Bilbao opted to change into new black shorts.

The club’s first ever ground was the ‘Ronda de Vellecas’, which was located on the south side of the city in an area which was famously known as the working-class area of the city.

The colour changing story

The change in the colour of the club has been one of the most entertaining story, some speculate that the change took place because the red and white striped shirts were the cheapest, because the same cloth was used to make mattresses, and the unused cloth is used to make these shirts. This gave the club a nickname, ‘Los Colchoneros’.

Some say that both the clubs used to buy Blackburn Rover’s blue and white kits. In 1909, a player and member of the club went to England to buy these kits, but he could not find and hence bought the red and white kits which were liked by both of the team. Both the explanations led to different nicknames to be given to Atletico Madrid.

Independence of the club and the aftermath

In 1921, Atletico Madrid officially left the shadow of the parent-club Bilbao and became an independent football club. They started using the stadium named, Estadio Metropolitano de Madrid, which had a seating of 35,800. They used this stadium until 1966 and later moved to Estadio Vincente Calderon.

JUVENTUS

Juventus Football Club: Also known as Juve, this Italian professional football team plays in Serie A, the top division of the country’s football league system, and is based in Turin, Piedmont. The club, established in 1897 by a group of Torino students, has competed at home at various venues throughout its city, the most recent being the Juventus Stadium, which has had a seating capacity of 41,507 since 1903.

The club, known as Vecchia Signora (“the Old Lady”), holds the record for all these competitions. It has also won 36 official league titles, 14 Coppa Italia titles, nine Supercoppa Italiana titles, two Intercontinental Cups, two European Cups/UEFA Champions Leagues, one European Cup Winners’ Cup, and a joint national record of three UEFA cups, two UEFA super cups, and a joint national record of one UEFA Intertoto cup.

Due to this, the team tops the all-time Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) classification. On the international scene, the club is ranked fourth in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) competitions and sixth in Europe for most confederation titles, with eleven medals. Possesses the greatest coefficient score throughout seven seasons from its debut in 1979, the most for an Italian team in both situations, and joint second overall in the last cited season.

One of the largest domestic and international fan bases supports the team. Juventus is a symbol of anti campanilismo (“anti-parochialism”) and italianità since, in contrast to most European sports fan communities, which are typically centered around the region where their team was founded, they are widespread across the entire nation and the Italian diaspora (“Italianness”).

Juventus players have won eight Ballon d’Or trophies, four of them in a row (1982–1985, a combined total), with Michel Platini, three of the five winners, Omar Svori, the first player to represent Serie A, and Paolo Rossi, a former member of the youth system, all being of Italian descent.

Additionally, they have garnered four FIFA World Player of the Year titles, with winners Roberto Baggio and Zinedine Zidane setting a record and placing third overall. Since 1924, the club has consistently sent the most players to the Italy national team, mostly for official competitions. These players frequently comprised the nucleus of the Azzurri squad, which was most significant in leading it to international success, particularly in 1934, 1982, and 2006 FIFA World Cups.
